Chapter Seven

Vincent

Brooke and I were silent as we watched Damon leave the house. I knew that I was being a complete asshole right now and before Damon arrived, I thought that I had every right to feel that way. My best friend had fucking lied to me. Where I had shared every little thing in my life with him, he had decided that I wasn’t worth being let in on the biggest secret that he was hiding.

Tyler knew everything that had happened between Brooke and I and in response, he had chosen to cut me out of his life. Like I was nothing more than some random stranger, instead of his best friend. Fuck that! We were more brothers than best friends and for him to just toss our bond aside, it fucking killed me.

Brooke stopped in front of me and placed her hands on my cheeks, tilting my gaze down to meet hers. Each time she looked at me, I felt like I was falling deeper into their depths every time. I couldn’t wait to spend forever showing her how much I loved and adored her.

“What do I do Brooke?” I placed my hand over hers and held it against my cheek.

“You go.” Her eyes were soft as she gazed down at me. “Darling, if you don’t go to Tyler now, you will lose him forever.” Her eyes filled with unshed tears and I fucking hated it. “You and Tyler have always had such a special friendship, baby. You will never forgive yourself if you lose it.”

I let my head hang between us, feeling at a loss of what the right thing was to do.

Is my girl right? If I don’t go to Tyler now, will I lose him? Have I already lost him?

I was torn out of my thoughts by Brooke harshly speaking my name. My head shot up and I wondered how long I had been zoned out for.

“Vincent!” She reached forward and placed her hands on each side of my face. “You need to go.” I gazed into her eyes for a moment before she nodded her head at me. “Go. He needs you.”

I nodded in response to her words and ducked my head, kissing her briefly before I stepped away. I grabbed my hoodie off the back of the sofa and tugged it on, stopping to grab my keys and phone off the side. As I exited the house, I had expected to have to run the few blocks to Tyler’s place but I stopped when I saw Damon sitting in his car, still parked outside the house.

I jogged down the path and climbed into the passenger seat. “Thanks, Damon.” I grinned at him before I reached for my seat belt and clicked it into place as he began to pull away from the sidewalk.

“It’s fine.” He turned the wheel as he pulled out of the junction. “It’s important that he sees you. I’m just glad that you saw sense and came out.” We both chuckled at his words.
